GET READY AMERICA, THE CATS ARE COMING!

The above clipping was taken from the 1982 Jackie Annual. The text which appeared alongside the photo reads: -

"Now, for a complete contrast, what about the Stray Cats? When they first hit the U.K. things didn't go quite as they'd planned. They arrived in the country with promises of great things from various people and were let down. At first they had to sleep on friends' floors and were absolutely penniless! They were lucky to get into Britain as well - if the authorities had known how long they were planning to stay they would have sent them straight back to the States - they arrived practically broke! Things soon changed for them, though - once record companies had witnessed them live they were queueing up with cheque books at the ready! Not surprising really - their live act is breathtaking! Don't know where they get the energy - stand-up drummer Slim Jim's antics make you tired just watching him! Having achieved success here, the band have been trying to crack their homeland America, and what better way to try than by supporting the Rolling Stones on tour? Bound to get you noticed!
Lets hope they carry on rocking the night away for a good few years to come.
They've got so much energy and talent, it'd be pretty bad if they disappeared off the scene."

Thanks to our good friend Banksy for sending the original scan into us, and a mention must go to his sister for being so understanding!!
